The beauty of walnut has been appreciated for centuries, and today it is still the most highly commercially valued hardwood in North America. This dark brown wood is known for its superior quality, strength, hardness, and resistance to impact, which is why it is used to manufacture solid wood furniture and caskets, as well as veneers, wood trim, pianos, and decorative objects.
Walnut planks from 2 to 3 inches in thickness are dried and conditioned over a period of months before being used to build the caskets in the D'Élégance Collection.
The wide variety of walnut grain patterns makes it one of the most visually appealing of hardwood species. Its warm colour sets off the natural beauty of the wood and distinguishes it from other species. This rich, beautiful wood is found in abundance in the northern United States.
